Our Progress
In November, 2009 the old North Cypress Fitness Center now the home of the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center began renovations to the building. The building belongs to the DePaula Family and is approximately 10,000 square feet. The demolition began and loads and loads of things where torn out , gutted and ripped up soon to be replaced to accommodate what will soon be Tangipahoa Parishes premier children’s museum. Being in a historic building the nostalgia of the exposed brick and ceiling would add charm to the newly designed exhibit space that will soon be completed. The Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center is a hands on museum for parents and their children to play and learn. The renovations to the building are currently completed and now is the time to start getting the furnishings and supplies. We are still on track and plan to be open in September, 2010 and currently working on setting a date for the grand opening celebration in October. Birthday Party reservations are being taken and field trips are getting set up. If you would like to help us with a few items we need for the Discovery Center here is a list of things we need:
