Hot August Nights

Bring your children to the Louisiana Children's Discovery Center on Hot August Night, August 20 from 6 - 9 p.m.   We will be hosting the following activities:

1. The Air National Guard will be present with “Lil Bill” a child-size version of their hurricane reconnaissance aircraft. The parking along Charles Street, adjacent to our parking lot, will be blocked off so that they will have a place to park their trailer. “Lil Bill” will be parked at the end of our street between the museum & Kayla’s Handbags. They will also have an inflatable Air National Guard soldier which will have someone inside moving/walking around.

2. SLU Biology Department will be present with a variety of Louisiana animals such as turtles, frogs, lizards, snakes. They will make presentations to students about each of the animals and supervise as the students touch the animals.

3. TJ the DJ will be here with fun children’s music and activities.

4. HHS Robotics will bring one of their robots and manipulate it with the children. They will be located in the parking lot.

5. Hammond Fire Department will be here with “Pluggie” their remote controlled fire hydrant.

6. “Discovering LemonAID” is a lemonade stand/community service project for the LCDC which will be operated by a group of children who are volunteering to help the lemonade stand raise money for the museum.   If your are interested in your children being involved in this project, please call Kim at 985-340-9150.

7.  Lastly, if you have not gotten your membership to the LCDC we will be selling memberships the night of Hot August Night.  The museum will be opening at the end of September and it will be the coolest place in downtown for children.

For more information call us at 985-340-9150.
