Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center is moving to Private Events and Celebrations Beginning October 1, 2020

The Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center Board of Directors and Executive Director has made the difficult decision to move to private rental and events beginning October 1, 2020, postponing daily museum visits from the general public until the first of the year when we will re-evaluate our current COVID-19 situation.

Closing to daily visits is an extremely difficult but necessary business decision. Many of our visitors have expressed their appreciation of us opening and commend us on the health and safety protocols we have put in place; however there are many families who are not quite ready to venture out in the numbers we need to support our daily operation.

We will continue to provide virtual resources to help families navigate this challenging time. We still welcome anyone wishing to host a birthday party, private play events or family gathering at the Discovery Center. The Discovery Center will also explore hosting opportunities for you to visit for special events and holiday camps. Please let us know if you want to be included on our email list to keep you informed of those events by emailing the Director at patti@lcdcofhammond.org.

Please know that all active Discovery Center memberships will automatically be extended to account for the time the museum will be closed to ensure the members receive the full 12 month value of membership. While our doors will be closed for daily visits, the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center will remain active and engaged with our members and families through private events and special holiday events and camps. We will find new, meaningful and innovative ways to deliver our mission in the weeks and months ahead as we ring in the New Year. We are hopeful to re-open in a new and exciting way for 2021.
